the altiplano

after a long and tiring saturday in the crazy carnival, i didnt do anything on sunday in oruro, so on monday i moved out of it to challacollo, close to the uru uru lake. the scenery is just crazy. it s flat, it feels high (4000 above sea level) the colours and clouds are beautiful, sky at night, stars like i never saw. the village is very little, theres no hostel, no restaurant, just 2 shops with quite nothing. the mayor improvised a bed out of reeds in a room of the "alcaldie or mairie" (in english i dont know) and as it was still time of carnival, it was a bit animated. people playing the same "riff" for hours, like a psychotic psychedelic song that never ends. there, it was the first time that i could find beers but not food, and the first time that i saw a whole village completely drunk. all the men without exception, and some women were well drunk... beer, cuba libre, coca leaves... interesting and funny.
